Respect Week/March 16-20, 20206 

We want to especially recognize Mrs. Marques Jordan  who has truly helped shape the culture of inclusion and belonging in our school community. For the past 12 years, she has been the driving force behind our Unified Club, creating opportunities for students of all abilities to connect, participate, and thrive together. We are thrilled to celebrate Respect Week as a school community next week.

Monday, March 16th - Mismatched Socks Assembly Down Syndrome at 9:30 AM

Tuesday, March 17th - Tie Dye for Autism 

Wednesday, March 18th - Favorite Sweatshirt, Police and Fire at lunches

Thursday, March 19th- Spiritwear Day

Friday, March 20th - Hat Day

There will be a Disability Simulation Lab for grades 3, 4, and  5 on Monday and Wednesday in the Open Learning Lab.   The Disability Read Alouds for K. 1, 2 - Monday, Tuesday,  and Wednesday during 5th-grade recess and specials. There will be an Inclusion Buddy Sale:  Monday-Friday during 5th-grade specials in the gym.  A schedule will be sent to classroom teachers so they know which day their class may come to the sale.

“Inclusion Buddies are little handmade critters that our 5th Grade Unified Committee created.  No two are the same, just like us!  They are here to remind us that everyone is unique and different in their own way.  The proceeds will go towards the purchase and installation of our Playground Communication Board.  Inclusion Buddies will be sold during Respect Week. “

At halftime, we’ll draw up to 3 raffle tickets for a chance at the GRAND PRIZE:

Make the half-court shot and win a ride to school in a Smithfield Fire Department fire truck!

How It Works:

  • Purchase raffle tickets before halftime

  • At halftime, we’ll draw up to 3 names

  • If your ticket is called, you get ONE half-court shot

  • Make it and you win the fire truck ride to school

Up to 3 lucky winners could ride to school in style!

Each winner will be awarded one PVES student ride to school in a Smithfield Fire Department fire truck on a mutually coordinated date.

2025-2026 District School Calendar Updated

Updated District Calendar for 2025-2026 This is a tentative calendar until the waiver process is completed and we hear if the district was approved to not make up the blizzard days.

Survey Works/Help Us Highlight What A WONDERFUL School PVES is!

Just a reminder to complete your SURVEY WORKS.  To date, we have 108 family surveys completed with R.I.D.E.

We would like to boost our Survey Works completion numbers from 250 in 2025 to 300 or higher for 2026. Any parent who has completed their child’s Survey Works survey can enter to win a drawing by emailing pvesurveyworks@smithfield-ps.org and sending a screenshot of your submitted Survey Works. The deadline for all Survey Works is April 10th, 2026. Thank you for your support!

The prizes for student winners of the drawings include:

  1. VIP Lunch with a friend with the assistant principal or  principal

  2. Extra Recess 

  3. Tell a joke on the announcements or at lunch

  4. Fast pass to cut the lunch line
