#Engage, Energize, & Educate
May 6th
Dear PVE Families,
Mrs. Dohoney and I want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for our incredible staff and the work they do every single day. Their dedication, creativity, and compassion make PVES a place where students not only learn, but thrive.
A special thank you to our PTO and families for the wonderful week planned for our teachers this week. Thank you!
We also want to share some pictures from the Color Run on Saturday, May 3rd. Thank you to SSELAC for your continued service to the community of Smithfield.
May 7th is School Nurse Appreciation Day. We are all so grateful for Mrs. Traverse and all that she does every day for our students. Mrs. Dohoney and I recognize her invaluable contributions to PVES.
Mrs. Traverse is so much more than a caregiver, she is a source of comfort, calm, and compassion for our students, staff, and families. Whether it’s treating a scraped knee, managing health plans, or offering a reassuring presence during uncertain times, Mrs. Traverse consistently goes above and beyond to keep our school healthy and safe.
Please join us in expressing your gratitude this week.. A simple thank-you note, kind word, or smile can go a long way in letting her know how deeply appreciated she is.
Everyday Speech Update
Third graders are learning what it means to compromise at recess. Compromise is a way of reaching an agreement in which each student gives up something that was wanted in order to end a dispute or disagreement.
Summer STEAM for Grades 5th-7th!
Smithfield is running a FREE summer arts and technology camp for students entering grades 5-7. Students will have their choice of 2 courses from Art, Music, and STEM in addition to a new math-focused project-based learning course. Each course will be taught by a Smithfield teacher and will run for approximately 1 hour per day with short breaks in between. In addition, students can remain at camp for an extended-day leadership development program facilitated by the Smithfield YMCA!
Where: Gallagher Middle School
When: July 14-25 from 8:30-11:30 AM
Later this month, we’ll share a course selection Google Form so your child can select the courses they’d like to take during Summer Camp. Please reach out to Mr. Gallivan (kgallivan@smithfield-ps.org) if you have any questions.
Lost & Found
Our Lost & Found is piling up with sweatshirts, water bottles, and jackets. Please consider writing your child’s name on their belongings so that we can return lost items easily.
