Dear Smithfield Staff and Families,

This 31st edition of the Back to School report includes our weekly report on COVID cases and an update on town data. We are shortening the reports to continue to offer up-to-date figures concerning virus transmission while limiting other information to only the most pertinent information.

A Weekly Report on COVID Cases

Over the past week, we have had an additional 9 confirmed COVID cases. This brings our total since our school year began to 957 cases. There were 0 cases identified at SHS, 0 cases identified at Gallagher, 5 cases at Pleasant View Elementary, 4 cases at LaPerche Elementary and 0 cases at Old County Road Elementary.

Town Data

The weekly number of new Smithfield COVID cases for the week ending April 9th rose to 35 cases, up from last week’s 28. The number of cases in the state rose more significantly from 1353 last week to 1877 this week. The town rate corresponds to a weekly rate of 159 new cases per 100,000 residents. Our community rate is considered as having a low level risk for COVID-19 transmission. This data is available at https://bit.ly/2PxCgDM.
